About Patterns of Evidence Exodus:
For more than 50 years, the vast majority of the world's most prominent archaeologists and historians have proclaimed that there is no hard evidence to support the Exodus story found in the Bible.  In fact, they say that the archaeological record is completely opposed to the Bible's account.  This view of extreme skepticism has spread from academia to the world.  The case against the Exodus appears to be so strong that even some religious leaders are labeling this ancient account as historical fiction.  Filmmaker Timothy Mahoney begins with the questions, "Is the Bible just a myth, or did the archaeologists get it wrong?"  He decides to tackle this issue wit a deliberate scientific approach.   After examining the details in the biblical text, he journeys across the globe to search for patterns of evidence firsthand.  The result is the most in-depth archaeological investigation into the Exodus from Egypt ever captured on film.   This scientific documentary's goal is to communicate the TRUTH of the Bible and help equip believers with defending their faith and the Bible.

The DVD features stunning animations and a cast including narrator, Kevin Sorbo (God's Not Dead, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys), interviews with leading archaeologists including Israel Finkelstein, Kent Weeks, and David Rohl, and guest appearances by Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu and Shimon Peres.

My mom and I watched this DVD together, and found it fascinating! Mr. Mahoney and his team did a wonderful job on the making of this film, and the information and video footage are very interesting.

Although I did not agree with the main reason Mr. Mahoney began his project to discover evidence for the Exodus of the Children of Israel out of Egypt, I still really enjoyed the film! Mr. Mahoney was questioning his faith in the Bible because there seemed to be no evidence of the Exodus. He basically states that if he couldn't find physical evidence, he wasn't sure he could continue to believe. Hebrews 11:6 tells us that Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Our faith in God's Word can't come just through evidence. The Bible is the inerrant Word of God, and we can trust it completely whether or not we can find physical evidence that agrees with it.

Our Heavenly Father is so gracious to us though, and many, many times chooses to strengthen our faith by allowing us to find amazing evidence of the very things He has already told us of in His Word! It was exciting to see some of these things unfolding in Patterns of Evidence Exodus, and now we are eagerly awaiting the next DVD they are working on which will be about the crossing of the Red Sea!

HALF PRICE Handmade Corduroy Peasant Skirt for Girls

A couple years ago, I pulled out a pretty piece of dusty purple corduroy fabric from my stash, and decided to turn it into a girls peasant skirt.
As I was getting ready to cut it out however, I discovered that the fabric had been left folded so long that there was a discolored mark running down the middle of the entire piece of fabric. Not wanting to waste the fabric, I went ahead and cut out and sewed the skirt since the fabric was still plenty usable!

The finished skirt turned out nicely in spite of the discoloration. The line down the middle of the fabric doesn't show too much in the skirt and almost looks like another seam.

This girls size 6/8 purple corduroy peasant skirt is made with a medium weight fabric that would be just perfect for cold winter days! The four tiered skirt measures 24 inches in length and has an elastic waist of 21 inches.

Since this skirt has a flaw in it, I'm offering it for a discounted price of $15 plus $6 shipping. That's half price! If you're looking for a handmade, modest corduroy peasant skirt for a good price, this skirt is for you! I only have one though, so act quickly! Just drop me an e-mail at joyfullysewn [at] gmail [dot] com to let me know you want this skirt, and I'll be happy to send you a PayPal invoice.

New Book Triple Creek Ranch Book One 99 Cents TODAY ONLY!

My sister is celebrating the release of her newest Book
Triple Creek Ranch - Unbroken
with a count down sale on Amazon! Today only the Kindle version of the book is only 99 cents!!

Triple Creek Ranch Book One is the first in a series of three books, and has been named by her test readers as my sister's best book yet!! If you love to read or have children or grandchildren who love to read, my sister would be THRILLED if you would consider purchasing it.

If you'd like to get a little taste of what the book is like, you can read the first 10, 000 words here.

"The blazing sun was well past mid day, and the air was hot and heavy. The fields were green with rows of fast drying hay turning golden brown. Soon it would be time to load the hay wagons, and Jenelle shook her head at the thought of the long, hot days before them. A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts and opening it she found a neighbor boy.
“Pa and I were just in town and picked up your mail for you, Mrs. Mavrich. Pa didn’t think you’d be getting there this week.”
Jenelle smiled. “Why thank you, Ted. I’m sure we won’t. Not with Norman trying to get the fences fixed so they can move the horses. Tell your Pa we’re much obliged.”
Waving, Ted ran back to the wagon which was waiting for him at the end of the lane.
Thumbing quickly through the mail, Jenelle paused and looked at the last envelope with a frown.
“This looks important,” she murmured dropping the rest of the mail on the table and stepping out into the heat..."

I'm not the only one who loves them though! Here's what another lady has to say about them:

"Every since my first Lilla Rose clip I have been in love with these. I wear one just about everyday, if my hair is up its up in flexi clip. I love that they make it able to wear so many different styles. The fact that I never have to "refix" my hair throughout the day is always a reason I love them. They do not slide out or poke me or pull my hair too tight. My favorite one so far the the Cat's Meow."

Now my only problem is finding time to get good photos of the skirts and get them all listed! :) Until that happens though, I thought I'd give you a sneak preview.

All of the skirts posted here are ready to ship, so if you see one you want to purchase, leave me a comment with your e-mail address or contact me through my shop, and I'd be happy to work with you!

Old El Paso Frozen Entree Review and Giveaway (US Only)

Are you ready for another giveaway?! I haven't had a whole lot of time to blog lately, but I'm happy to share another giveaway with you. :)

Recently I was offered the opportunity to test out one of Old El Paso's new frozen entrées and I jumped at the chance. :) We love Mexican food, and I wanted to see what these new frozen options were like. I don't always like frozen meals but thought I'd give one of these a try.

Old El Paso has eight choices in their new frozen entrée line and include burritos, quesadillas, enchiladas and fajitas. Our Wal-Mart didn't have all of the choices, but that's okay. We ended up getting the Steak Fajitas to try out.

Each entrée is marketed as a meal for two people, and I was very surprised to see how much was in the bag! Often when a dish is labeled for two people there is barely enough for two, but not with Old El Paso frozen entrées! I didn't even cook the whole bag and with a side dish of refried beans and chips, we had enough for three people! Of course if you have really big eaters, it won't stretch that far. :)

The fajita filling was super easy to cook! Just dump it in a non stick pan, turn the stove on and let it cook stirring occasionally. In just about 13 minutes, your filling will be ready. Fill your tortillas and top with cheese, sour cream, salsa, or whatever you desire and enjoy.

My parents and I enjoyed these fajitas. The flavor was good, and the meal was certainly easy to prepare. For days when you just don't have time to cook a meal from scratch, the Old El Paso frozen entrées just might fill in the gap!

Would you like to try one for yourself? They are available at many grocery stores, or you can enter on the Rafflecopter form below for a chance to win a prize pack like I received.

1 Coupon for a FREE Old El Paso Frozen Entrées of Your Choice
1 $10 Visa Gift Card
1 Mexican Tile Chip and Dip Serving Dish

The Sparkle Box Review and Giveaway (US & CANADA)

"Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned below for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Comission's 16 CFR, Part 255: "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising."

Here we are already in the beginning of November, and Christmas is just around the corner!

I am excited to bring you a special book review and giveaway! In our ME centered society, it's so refreshing to find a children's Christmas book that turns our focus away from ourselves and helps us to focus on others. And that's just what The Sparkle Box does.

About The Sparkle Box - A Gift with the Power to Change Christmas
Sam is so excited about Christmas! He's thinking about his Christmas list, looking forward to holiday parties, and puzzling over one very mysterious gift: a sparkly box sitting on the mantel. In the midst of the festivities, Sam and his family participate in various acts of kindness to others. On Christmas morning, when Sam finally opens the Sparkle Box, he finds only slips of paper that record the family's good deeds. Sam's mom explains that the things that they've been doing are, in fact, a gift for Jesus, for Jesus said that whatever we do for those in need, we do for Him.

        Written by Jill Hardie
        Illustrated by Christine Kornacki
        Available now!
        Hardcover with jacket, 10 x 10, 32 pages, with a fold-out sparkle box included!
        ages 4 to 8

I was given the opportunity to review this book, and was eager to do so. The book itself is a nice quality hardback and has a dust jacket with a glittery silver Sparkle Box right there on the front which is sure to attract young readers. The illustrations are beautifully and realistically done, and the story itself is well written.

I was hoping this book would prove to be one I could give to my sister-in-law to use with my young niece and nephews, and I wasn't disappointed. I think they are going to enjoy The Sparkle Box this Christmas season and so will another family or two we are going to share it with!

If you're looking for a simple way to add more meaning to your Christmas celebrations, or if you just want a sweet  and simple story to remind you and your children of the many needs around us and that doing things (even little things) for others is doing them for Jesus, then I you'll want to get The Sparkle Box. This book may be marketed for young children, but it has a message for all of us and a challenge - what am I going to do for Jesus this Christmas season to bless those in need?

Author Bio
Author Jill Hardie and her family began placing a gift for Jesus under their Christmas tree as a way of bringing more meaning to the holiday.  The first time they opened His gift, the commercialism of the season melted away and they felt a profound joy and peace.  Jill hopes that The Sparkle Box will spark a new Christmas tradition, bringing light into thousands of lives.

Illustrator Bio
At a very early age, Christine Kornacki developed a love for painting and bringing stories to life.  After receiving a BFA in illustration from the University of Hartford, her dreams of illustrating children's books began to take shape.  She spends her days painting in her studio, which adjoins a charming cafe in New Haven, Connecticut.

Would you like to win your own copy of The Sparkle Box? Just fill out the Rafflecopter form below to be entered in the giveaway!

Homemade Dark Chocolate Drizzled Kettle Corn

About a month or so ago, my mom asked me if there were any recipes for homemade Kettle Corn. She had been enjoying a little chocolate drizzled kettle corn as an afternoon snack, but the bag was almost empty, and as it was a seasonal item, the stores around here didn't have any more available.

So I went searching on Pinterest to see what I could find. Sure enough, I found a recipe that looked easy, and decided to give it a try. The first batch was sort of a success. I only had a regular cooking pan to make the popcorn in, and the sugar stuck to the bottom of the pan a little and the popcorn had a slightly burned taste.

I wasn't ready to give up yet, and thought I'd try it again on a lower temperature. This time was worse! Not only did the popcorn burn again, the sugar also badly burned onto the pan leaving black spots that only came off with vigorous scrubbing and cleaning products! Things were just not working!

Then one day we were at church getting our weekly carry-in meal ready and one of the families brought their new Whirley Pop popcorn maker to make kettle corn! That's what I was missing! A regular pan just wasn't good enough for making kettle corn, I needed a special popcorn popper! We've always used and air popper for making popcorn, so this was something new.

Within a week or two, I had purchased a used Whirley Pop popper off of Ebay and was in business! This pan is just perfect for making kettle corn, and we have been thoroughly enjoying it since we got it. It takes a lot of turning to keep the oil, sugar, and popcorn kernels moving so that they won't burn, but it's worth it, and turns out perfect yummy kettle corn every time!

Making Kettle Corn
Measure 1/2 cup popcorn kernels, 1/4 cup organic sugar (or regular sugar), and 1/4 cup coconut oil (affiliate link).

Pour oil in popper and heat over medium heat until hot. Add popcorn and sugar. Stir to combine. Close lid and begin stirring as the popcorn heats and the sugar melts.

Just as you begin to think nothing is going to happen, the kernels begin to explode first one or two at a time and then more and more at once! Keep stirring until you can't stir anymore as the pan is completely full.

Quickly dump into a large bowl and sprinkle with salt to taste, stirring to get the salt mixed in thoroughly.

Now, you're ready to dig in and eat your yummy treat, OR you can go a step farther and turn your plain kettle corn into an even more special treat by adding drizzled chocolate!

Melt 1/2-3/4 cup dark chocolate chips (depending on how much popcorn you have left after eating sampling the plain kettle corn) and whatever oil has settled in the bottom of the measuring cup from making the popcorn.

Spread the popcorn in a single layer on cookie sheets. Drizzle with melted chocolate. Place the pans in the freezer (or fridge) for about 10 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden.

Break into chunks and enjoy!

You could also try this with semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips or peanut butter chips for a fun and yummy variation!

Note: FREE Shipping Coupon!! Through midnight EDT, Monday, September 9th, all Tropical Traditions Ground shipments within the lower 48 United States will be FREE with the use of our FREE Shipping coupon 19139!
