Lots of Skirts!

Over the last few months I've been very busy sewing up lots of custom orders. I love custom making things especially for the one who will receive it, but doing custom work also means I don't have as much time to keep items in stock in my little shop - Joyfully Sewn Designs. :)

I have been able to work a little bit here and there in-between custom orders though and have managed to sew up some more peasant skirts to replace some of those that have been sold this year. Now my only problem is finding time to get good photos of the skirts and get them all listed! :) Until that happens though, I thought I'd give you a sneak preview.

All of the skirts posted here are ready to ship, so if you see one you want to purchase, leave me a comment with your e-mail address or contact me through my shop, and I'd be happy to work with you!

Corduroy, Corduroy, Corduroy!

For the last several weeks, my clothes, my floor, my sewing machine, and my ironing board have been covered with tiny pieces of corduroy fuzz. I've been working hard to get some new corduroy items made to list in my shops while it's still winter!

I now have five skirts and one jumper sewn, photographed, and ready to sell! Hopefully I can get them listed in the next day or two! (Anyone need a 1/2 priced girls purple corduroy peasant skirt? More about that later.)

Sneak Previews for the New Year

It's been a long time since I've posted any sneak preview pictures. Last month I was so busy fulfilling custom orders that I didn't have time to work on getting new items made for my shops. Plus my photographer was super busy too!

I just got pictures a few days ago, and just had to share a few with you.

Now I just have to find time to list all of my new items!

Sneak Preview

A few months ago I was looking through one of my favorite booths at our local Antique Mall / Flea Market, and found this pretty eyelet fabric! It's a really nice, soft grey eyelet fabric with white embroidery on it. I immediately thought it would make great skirts, so I purchased it, and here are the skirts - One for Mama and on for Daughter. :)

Sneak Preview and a Question

A few weeks ago when I was at JoAnn's, I found some adorable hot pink, green, orange, and white coordinating print fabrics. They look just like summer, so I bought a couple yards and took them home to make a patchwork skirt. When I got home I discovered that I had some green, orange, and pink polka dot fabric from the same line that I had purchased last year! They went together with my white prints perfectly, and I was able to cut out 6 different items using the approximately 8 1/4 yards of fabric I ended up with. It was so fun to see how many different things I could use all those coordinating fabrics for! :)

Here's one of my new cute summer outfits made from 5 of the fabrics. I ran out of the pink polka dot fabric before I got to this outfit, so I'll just use it for the hair bows.

I'm also working on a couple different sizes of patchwork skirts using these fabrics as well, and I have a question for my readers about one of them.

This skirt is a size 4/5. On a four year-old, it would probably be around ankle length, and for a five year old it's probably about mid-calf length.
My question is, should I add sewn in bloomers to this skirt?

I had a poll on my blog a while ago asking for input about whether Mommy's of Little Girls like the built in bloomers/shorts best or not. It seems that most people DO want the built in bloomers/shorts for their little girls. I'm now making nearly all of my toddler skirts and my little girls knee length skirts with sewn in bloomers. Should I also do that for my size 4/5 skirts? What about the 6/8 size? Most little girls (even 8 and 9 year-olds) that I know still need shorts or something under their dresses for modesty. Should those be sewn in? What's your preference - Shorts or Bloomers?

Thanks so much for your input! I appreciate it!

Sneak Previews

Although I haven't gotten any new items listed in my shop for a while, I haven't been idle! I've been sewing up another pile of little skirts, dresses, and jumpers to send to my photographers. Here's one of the new skirts that is just waiting for me to be modeled. :)

New Summer Fabrics!

I also just got a huge stash of 9" zippers given to me. Anyone in need of some zippers?

I just got pictures back from one of my photographers! More spring and summer skirts are coming as soon as I can get them listed, but for now, here's a picture of a couple of them being modeled by two sisters. :)

Sneak Preview

Here's the latest creation from my sewing room. I have two of these made a 3/6 month size and an 18 month size. I'm waiting to send the bigger one to be modeled and photographed, but I thought I'd give my blog readers a sneak preview of the little one before it's even in my shop. :)

Isn't it sweet? The turquoise snowflake corduroy is so soft and the jumper is fully lined with white cotton fabric. I have more of this fabric waiting to be used (I purchased in on a really good sale), but first I have to figure out what to make with it. Any suggestions? :)
